Resources for workers with limited English
New Readers Press is the publishing arm of ProLiteracy. It offers a range of books to help people with limited literacy get ready to hold a job, for example:
- Conversations at Work, a low-beginner level book
- At Work in the US - can be used as an ESL resource but the content focuses on work-related concepts such as expressing personal information, job procedures and benefits, workplace safety and workplace culture.
- Out and About in the World of Technology, an introductory computer course for beginning English learners
Resources for SKILLED immigrants
Imprint works through its member organizations to provide career services and to help skilled immigrants get their credentials recognized so that they can use their advanced skills instead of being stuck in low-level jobs.
World Education Services (WES) is a member of IMPRINT. It evaluates immigrants and "translates" their international qualifications into terms that US and Canadian employers can recognize.
Global Talent Bridge is a WES program that helps skilled immigrants attain their professional and educational goals. Their website includes a number of resources of interest to both the Employment Sub-Committee and the ESL Sub-Committee.
